Kemp Schuessler currently serves on the Bradenton City Council representing Ward 3 and as Chair of the Bradenton Community Redevelopment Agency. A graduate of Boston College, he brings more than three decades of leadership experience in business, finance, real estate, and strategic planning to public service.
A proven executive and problem-solver, Kemp has spent his career helping individuals, families, and businesses navigate important decisions—from financial planning and homeownership to long-term growth and stability.
A strong sense of service was instilled in him early in life through family influences that shaped his belief in showing up, listening, and giving back to the community.
Laura, Kemp's wife and a fifth-generation Floridian who grew up in St. Petersburg, chose Bradenton decades ago as the place to build her life, raise her family, and invest in the community she loves. Deeply engaged in civic life, she has long been committed to helping Bradenton thrive. After they married, Kemp proudly joined her in calling Bradenton home, and together they chose the Wares Creek neighborhood because of its history, character, and strong sense of community. Together, Kemp and Laura are proud parents of five children, and family remains at the center of their lives.
In serving Ward 3 on the Bradenton City Council, Kemp has approached public service the same way he approached leadership throughout his career: by listening first, asking thoughtful questions, and focusing on practical solutions.
He believes local government works best when it is transparent, responsive, fiscally responsible, and grounded in common sense.
Serving the people of Bradenton has been an honor, and Kemp is working every day to earn the continued trust of the community.
